green flash projects plays a collaborative and hands-on role in the entire publication process. We work closely with artists to shape each book, refining their concepts while ensuring their unique voices and perspectives remain central. Our mission, which intersects queer artistry, community, and the natural world, also emphasizes social justice and equity.

During the editorial process, we engage in meaningful discussions with artists to clarify their vision and offer feedback that enhances both content and narrative structure. Our design process ensures that visual elements align with the book’s themes and the artist’s voice, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and inclusivity.

In production, green flash projects prioritizes eco-friendly materials and sustainable practices. We assist artists with distribution, marketing, and promotion, ensuring their work reaches diverse audiences. Collaborative partnerships are essential, as seen with They Call Me The Mayor at Riis Beach, where Anthology Editions handles publication printing and distribution, Daly NY supported event promotions, and Lil’ Deb’s Oasis and the People’s RIISearch Group were event community partners.

By providing personalized support from concept development through publication and promotion, green flash projects empowers artists to fully realize their creative visions while amplifying marginalized voices. When a printed publication needs distribution, we occasionally offer our platform, as we did for zines We Come in Waves (the People’s RIISearch Group) and Environmental Racism (People for Mutual Education). We foster a collaborative environment where artists feel supported and their work is accessible to a broad, inclusive audience, all while championing social and environmental justice.

They Call Me The Mayor At Riis Beach: Ralph's Beach Parties 1994-2000

Ralph Hopkins with Gili Rappaport

Published by Anthology Editions with green flash projects

For one day at the end of each summer between 1994 and 2000, Ralph Hopkins and the community transformed Riis Beach (aka the People’s Beach), New York City’s oldest public gay beach, into a vibrant and otherworldly fashion event. Ralph worked alongside friends, designers, and models from the storied queer sanctuary to create joyful spectacles and iconic looks in the sun and sands of the Rockaway Peninsula. Now, on September 22, 2024—on the occasion of Ralph's Red Hot at Riis Beach party, the revival of Ralph’s Beach Parties to the People’s Beach, co-organized by Ralph with Gili Rappaport (green flash projects) and Halo Kaya Perez-Gallardo (Lil’ Deb’s Oasis)—Anthology is thrilled to present They Call Me the Mayor at Riis Beach: Ralph’s Beach Parties 1994–2000. Featuring more than 100 photographs alongside reflections by Ralph and his collaborator Gili Rappaport, They Call Me the Mayor at Riis Beach is a celebration of the historic parties as well as a unique document of artistry, inclusivity, and wondrous beachfront fashions on Ralph’s signature glittering mylar runway.
